THEME: Explore the colorful, textured, patterned world of small and mighty insects. This AQU challenge celebrates the beauty, diversity, and ecology of our tiniest neighbors. Let the unseen heroes of nature be seen in their full glory!
ENTRIES: One main piece and one smaller piece. Each piece must include at least one representation of an insect. It may include other natural elements like flowers, plants, trees, sky, water, and so on. Your insect may be based on a genuine natural beauty or a fantastic version of a real creature. You may wish to include an educational element in your work, for example, how bees support our well-being or the endangerment of monarch butterflies. You may choose any insects that appeal to your creative spirit.
ARTWORK TYPE: Wall hanging, 3D, or suspended from the ceiling!
ARTWORK SIZE: Main piece size is open, except for 3D pieces, which must fit on an 18" x 18" pedestal. The smaller piece must be 6” x 6”. The small panels will be hung together as a group collage. Entering a smaller piece is optional.
EXHIBIT FEE: $25 for up to 2 pieces
ART INTAKE: March 14 at the AQU Membership meeting; March 24 at the gallery; or by special arrangement with the AQU Exhibit Chair
ART RETURN: July 17 at the gallery; September 12 at the AQU Membership meeting; or by special arrangement with the AQU Exhibit Chair
