STUDIO TIPS, TOUR & LUNCH with Candie Delnore

Candie Delnore has a marvelous studio where she creates her signature fiber art pieces. Candie will tell us about her approach, how her studio space has evolved over the decades, and what she considers essential. You won’t want to miss this gathering of inspiration and shop talk with fellow artists. A luncheon buffet is included. Members will receive an email invitation in January with location, time, and RSVP request.

AQU STUDIO DAY, 9 am to 3 pm

Enjoy a full day of creative sewing, fiber manipulation, painting, pop-up demos, and giveaways with fellow members at our UCC meeting room. The day’s program is up to you! Bring your sewing machine, supplies, and works-in-progress. Ironing and cutting stations will be available for shared use. Lunch will be brown bag.

 

MAY 8, 2027

ARTFUL PAPER EMBOSSING by Carolyn Gora

Create a 3D paper element that can be painted, collaged, or embroidered. Carolyn will demo the embossing process and illustrate how she uses the process in her artwork. Participants will receive a small precut handmade mulberry paper and a wooden form to try the technique for themselves. Participants can bring their own watercolors and brushes to color their embossed pieces. The full process involves wetting and drying the paper, so there may not be time to complete a finished product.

 

JULY 10, 2027

EMBROIDERY FLOSS APPLICATIONS IN QUILTING AND ART

Join Maura as she explores the magic of embroidery, where humble threads become tools of transformation. With needle, color, and imagination, strands turn into a pliable medium, plain fabrics become miniature artworks, and cherished, well-worn pieces get a second life. Participants will enjoy a showcase of techniques, inspiration, and examples from Maura’s stitched collections.  

 

SEPTEMBER 11, 2027

EXCITING SLOW STITCH by Lisa Gorski

Slow stitch is mindful, improvisational, and meditative. Lisa will demonstrate Kwandi stitching from the Siddi community of India. Learn about the background and uses of this technique, and then try your hand as Lisa guides us in stitching a sample piece. Lisa will supply background fabric, needle and thread; you’ll need to bring some square and rectangular fabric scraps. Lisa’s collection of other slow-stitch projects will give you even more ideas.
